Month: October 2023

Daily Log: 11 October 2023

  • Sauerkraut Soup
  • Happy Belly SF Pink Lemonade
  • Pita Sandwiches: pita pockets, cabbage slaw, shredded lettuce, spicy hummus, chickpea salad (mashed chickpeas, unMeat Chicken Style Chunks, dill pickles, Walden Farms Sweet & Tangy Chicken Dip, nutritional yeast, dill, garlic powder)

NOTES: The sauerkraut soup was better today.  I guess it needed time in the fridge.  It had become nicely spicy, which was a nice surprise given the lack of spices in it.  I loved the pita sandwiches I had for dinner.  I don’t know if it is just having bread or if the mix was just right, but it made me very happy.  Because I used bread, I counted out the calories and each sandwich was about 200 calories, which I thought was pretty decent.  They were incredibly filling.

  • Starbucks Dark Roast Cold Brew Coffee, Pacifica Oat Milk, Jordan’s Skinny Mixes Peanut Butter Cup Syrup
  • Soup: onions, sauerkraut, broccoli, miso, diced tomatoes, potato flakes, vegetable stock, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, mushroom seasoning, Tabitha Brown Sunshine Seasoning
  • Happy Belly SF Pink Lemonade
  • 2 wraps: tortillas, Roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce, spicy hummus

NOTES: I’m not sure how I feel about the sauerkraut soup I made.  I like it, but it isn’t one I could eat all day.  I portioned it out for eating throughout the week; hopefully I will continue enjoying it.  The wraps were completely different.  They were both simple and perfect.  My grandpa ate tomato sandwiches all the time, and the older I get the more I understand it.  A little bread & a little tomato is just fantastic.

NOTES: Feeling fantastic.  I hadn’t really worried about today’s weigh-in, but it almost couldn’t have gone better.  Normally I’d worry about losing 10 pounds, but last week I was feeling unwell and didn’t do my weigh-in until later in the day when I finally felt like it, and by then I had eaten.  The fact that I lost no weight was disappointing, but I have been braced for plateaus.  It looks like I didn’t need to worry too much about it.  I’ve just felt great today.  The type of energy I have is so much better than the over-caffeinated days over the past few years.  I should have done this before, but understanding is reached when it is reached.

I’m trying to remain cautious about progress.  I still have a long way to go before I am a healthy weight and can do as much as I want physically.  I feel confident in my ability to get there, but I don’t want to celebrate as if I’ve completed some goal every time I lose a little.  A loss is fantastic, but I just need to keep moving forward.

NOTES: I’m finally feeling better.  I hope I haven’t sabotaged my diet over the last few days.  I just feel like I wasn’t being as careful as I need to be.  I need to keep on track and not use fast food as a crutch, even when I’m not feeling well.  I need to have things on hand for times I am not feeling up to making food.
